A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued again. This time it’s up for Cape May and Sussex counties only until 8pm. Powerful, gusty straight-line winds is the primary threat. Heavy downpours and dangerous lightning will accompany these storms as well.

We had quite a bit of wind damage yesterday in the Washington Twp area. It looked like a strong downburst came through. Lots of snapped branches and some uprooted smaller trees. What did you see in your neighborhood? Post your pictures below.

PLEASE SHARE - Most areas will see just showers today. But another round of downpours and thunderstorms are likely well south of the city. Like yesterday some of these could be on the stronger side again. The flash flood threat is also well south of the city across Delmarva including south Delaware. Overall this is not as impactful as yesterday, not even close actually. But more downpours and storms are on the way for some.

The entire Philadelphia television market is in a heightened risk of severe weather today including isolated tornadoes. If a tornado were to develop the best chance of seeing it would be in the area below that is circled.

Here’s a look at the piece of energy that’s going to get the atmosphere angry later today. It doesn’t look like much right now as it passes over western Pennsylvania, but it will get going soon.

There’s an elevated risk for strong, potentially damaging wind gusts late this afternoon as a powerful line of thunderstorms rips through the viewing area. I think the best chance is going to be in the area circled which includes Wilmington, Millville, Dover, Washington DC and Baltimore.
A Flash Flood Watch has also been issued for the I-95 corridor for urban flash flooding. Rainfall rates 1-2” per hour.
Remember do not drive through flood waters. You don’t know how deep the water is and you don’t know the condition of the road underneath the water.

Live from the Sowers dungeon time! Things might get a little hectic tomorrow afternoon and evening. There’s a straight line wind threat, a tornado threat and a flash flood threat.

There’s the tornado threat now for Monday. This is going to end up being a sneaky severe weather event. It would not surprise me at all if we get at least one tornado warning out of it. The level 2 severe risk was also expanded north and now includes Philadelphia, Trenton, Reading and Allentown. On top of that, we have an elevated flash flood risk for just about the entire viewing area. Could be a very active day tomorrow.

No significant changes were made to Monday’s flash flood threat. Some of the computer guidance is now printing out over 2” of rain in a very short period or time.
The severe threat continues as well. A level 2 out of 5 for just about the entire viewing area except the shore points. Strong straight-line winds will be the main concern. There could also be an isolated tornado.

Keep a close eye on Monday. These types of systems are sneaky. There could be a couple of big t’storms out of this. Damaging straight line winds will be the main concern here. But I’m starting to wonder if we could get a spin up tornado out of this too. There’s a flash flood threat north and west that needs to be monitored too.
